WAT PHOTHIVIHAN @ Tumpat, Kelantan~ One of the Biggest Reclining Buddha Statue in the World!

Wat Photivihan วัดโพธิวิหาร is a Buddhist temple located in the district of Tumpat, Kelantan, in Malaysia. The temple is one of 25 temples found in Tumpat, and is one of the most popular in the country. The temple houses a 40-metre long, 11-metre high and 9-metre wide statue of a sleeping Buddha, which is the longest of its kind in Southeast Asia. The devotees of this temple are mainly ethnic Thais, and the temple itself is a typical Thai Buddhist temple.
Wat Phothivihan was completed in 1979 after 6 years of construction work at a cost of RM350,000! It is often mistakenly described as South East Asia's biggest reclining Buddha but that honor goes to the one at the Chauk Htet Gyi Pagoda in Yangon, Myanmar which is 66 meters long. But it is Malaysia's biggest with a length of 40 meters, 7 meters longer than the next biggest contender, Wat Chaiya Mangakalaram in Penang.
